Members may enter images at three levels of judging standards (categories): as follows:

Novice—for entrants, who are relatively inexperienced in exhibiting photographs.

Intermediate— (This class discontinued in 2007 )

Advanced—for more-experienced exhibitors.

With the exception of those who have graduated from the lower classes or who have previously competed above a given class, a member may elect to compete in any class.

Graduation from each category is based on points earned during the competition year (Sep. to Jun.) in that category

For example, a member might be eligible to enter a different class for slides than the class in which the member is entering color prints.
