Jim Clark’s “Natural Celebration” is Coming to VPS
Nationally renowned photographer Jim Clark will bring his presentation,
“A Natural Celebration,” to VPS in February. It “will focus on my experiences
photographing and witnessing this wonderful world of photography and will
include personal stories, tips and techniques,” Jim said. His talk incorporates
two of his musical slide programs, “Mountain Memories” and “Between Ocean and
Bay.”
Known for his delicate, evocative photographs of
nature – especially of West Virginia and the Eastern Shore – Jim is the author
and photographer of three books including, his most recent, “Between Ocean and
Bay: A Celebration of the Eastern Shore.”
He is working on an additional book about his home state of West
Virginia and along with his nine-year-old son, Carson, is co-authoring a
photography book for children.
Jim is a Contributing Editor for Outdoor Photographer
magazine and date, has had more than 25 articles appear in the magazine. His
articles and images have also appeared in many other publications including,
“Nature’s Best,” “Wonderful West Virginia” and “Defenders of Wildlife.” A
photographer for more than three decades, Jim is known to thousands as a
speaker and instructor who has conducted workshops and classes for the North
American Nature Photography Association, the Great American Photography Weekend
workshops, Horizons Workshops, Mountain Trail Photography Workshops and other
groups. His goal as an instructor is to help others develop their own vision
and personal style for capturing nature’s best through their viewfinders. Jim
is a principal in the new nature photography website, mountaintrailphoto.com.
A wildlife biologist prior to becoming a professional
photographer, Jim still stalks the West Virginia outback each summer with his
son, Carson. He has been a naturalist since his childhood days in southern West
Virginia and regrets that, “Today, fewer children are involved with the
pleasure of exploring nature.” Father and son believe that together they have
developed some ideas about how to help reverse that trend, as noted in a series
of articles, “My Child in the Woods,” published on Jim’s website.
Jim Clark’s guest appearance with VPS is Feb. 4. Jim’s
books, DVDs and dozens of his images are available at jimclarkphotography.com
