Ian Plant and Joseph Rossbach Bring “50 Amazing Things” to VPS
Ian Plant and Joseph Rossbach, well-known
photographers and teachers who have written an array of books and articles
about photography, will make a guest appearance with VPS in December. One of
their latest books is 50 Amazing Things You
Must See and Do in the Greater D.C. Area: The Ultimate
Outdoor Adventure Guide. Written for photographers and others
who enjoy the outdoors, the book highlights some of the
most breathtaking scenery and wildlife in the eastern United States and is a
guide to shooting sites that may be reached within a three-hour drive of the
nation's capital. The guide focuses on the best vantage points to glimpse birds
and animals, and the best times for seasonal events such as the spring bloom
and peak autumn color. It also directs readers to the best places for other
outdoor experiences such as the best hiking, biking and paddling in the region.
50 Amazing Things… is illustrated with stunning, color photos by Ian and Joseph, who live in the Washington area and conduct photographic
workshops in the mid-Atlantic region and across the country.
Ian as been photographing
the natural world for 15 years and is known for his dramatic and evocative
landscape and wildlife images. His work has appeared in a number of magazines,
including “National Parks,” “Adirondack Life,” “Popular Photography” and
“Chesapeake Life,” among others. He was the subject of a recent profile in
“Outdoor Photographer” magazine, which frequently publishes his photographs and
articles. Ian lives in northern Virginia and is the author of six books,
including the critically acclaimed Chesapeake:
Bay of Light, An Exploration of the Chesapeake Bay's
Wild and Forgotten Places. Ian’s website, www.ianplant.com, contains several portfolios of his work

Joseph specializes in creating unique
images of the American wilderness with an emphasis on the East Coast from South
Carolina to Maine. Joe, an Annapolis resident, has been photographing the
natural world for more than 12 years and has traveled from the deep canyons of
the Southwest to the rugged coasts of New England in search of beautiful and
evocative images of the American outdoors. His work has appeared in calendars,
advertising campaigns, art galleries, books and magazines, including “Blue
Ridge Country” “Digital Camera World,” “Photo Techniques,” “Digital Photo,”
“The Potomac News” and “Mountain Connections.” Joe is the subject of a
forthcoming profile in “Outdoor Photography” magazine. His website,

Highlands,” “Dancing with Light,” and “Great Falls of the Potomac.”
Joseph and Ian are principals in the

Nature Photography. They appear with VPS on Dec. 2 to tell members about some of the amazing
shooting sites in the Washington region.
