NOVEMBER JUDGE: Colin Winterbottom

Mr. Colin Winterbottom will be the judge for our 15 November competition. Since buying his first camera (a used Sears-SLR) thirteen years ago, Colin Winterbottom has developed a respected portfolio of fine art images. Primarily self-taught, Winterbottom began exploring photography by shooting the city at night using high speed black and white films, a combination perfect for his interest in highly-textured, dramatic and moody images. While he has also built a large collection of daytime, infrared photographs, he continues to have a special passion for the way darkened skies and artificial light often create unexpected accents to the urban environment.

His photograph of Washington and New York are published on a locally-distributed line of notecards, and he regularly exhibits at galleries in Washington DC. To learn more about Colin and his photography, visit his web site www.winterbottom.com
