LEON WITTWER
The presentation at the June 7
th VPS meeting will be by Leon Wittwer who is a retired member of the Senior Executive Service with 38 years in the US federal government; pioneering the solving of difficult scientific / technical problems with computers. That work led to his interest in digital photography.
Beginning his digital journey with a Quiktake 150 camera, Leon has enjoyed the rapid and continuous improvement in digital cameras, computers, software, printers and, perhaps, his own "digital darkroom" skills. He currently shoots with a Canon 1D MKII DSLR, and the 24-105 f/4 IS L is the lens most often used for panoramas. Le likes to use these digital tools to create photographs that show how beautiful places look like on a "good day." For a preview of what his images look like, go to

His June VPS presentation will mostly be a tutorial on how he shoots and constructs his panoramas that show the majesty and grandeur of the American landscape. Included will be shooting techniques in the field, raw processing, manual stitching methods and final processing prior to printing using Photoshop. He will bring a number of his panoramas to demonstrate the results, and answer questions on panoramas and any general questions about digital photography. This is bound to be a great wrap-up for the 2005-2006 VPS presentation year.
