.......................................November Judge
 
Our judge of for November, when the theme is animals, is Wayne Wolfersberger who is a biologist by training.  He first worked for US Fish and Wildlife Service and has taught in public schools in Virginia, in Maryland, and also in England.  After retiring from that teaching career, he teaches part time at Virginia Tech. University from during September through May and works for U S National Park Service in Yellowstone in the summer. He has been teaching photography classes for Fairfax County Adult and Community Education during the spring and fall semesters for the past 9 years. This fall he will be teaching a new course there on Flower and Garden Photography.
 
Active in photography since his college days at the University of Maryland, he worked for a commercial photography firm in the DC area, and at the Navy Photographic Center in D.C. during the Viet Nam war.  Wayne has had numerous published images in calendars, postcards and in magazines.  Several of his images have been in Nature’s Best magazine, and he also had many cover shots for the American Biology Teacher’s magazine, Most of his current work appears in publications such as magazines and calendars.
 
Wayne uses Nikon equipment shooting both film and digital (the latter about 90-95%). He has been a member of the Northern Virginia Photographic Society for over twenty years; serving in several positions including VP and President. He is also a VPS member
 
His judging and presenting programs for has not been limited to the numerous local camera groups. This December he will be presenting a program on Yellowstone to a photography group that has been in operation in Adelaide Australia for about 100 Years. Additionally, he has presented multiple workshops and seminars for the Geological Survey, a Wildflower program at Wintergreen, and a Bird program for an Audubon group in the United Kingdom.
